Another Close One
for the Whitley County boys varsity basketball team, the old saying 'close, but no cigar' could become a team motto. The colonels let another game slip away in the final minutes to Bell County over the weekend. And with a district battle with Corbin looming, will the team be mentally prepared?

Explosive gas prices
After just a few months of relief at the pump, cheap gasoline is disappearing. Gas prices have risen 41 days in a row, to a national average of almost $2.62 a gallon. That is a sharp increase from the low of $1.62 a gallon that prevailed at the end of last year.
